BusPulse ("the app") is a real-time TransLink transit app for Metro Vancouver. This policy explains what information the app accesses and how it is used.
The app requests access to your device's location while the app is in use. Your location is used solely to show nearby bus stops and estimate your walk time to stops. Your location is never stored, transmitted to any server, or shared with any third party. All location processing happens on your device.
Real-time arrival, vehicle, and service-alert data comes from TransLink's public GTFS-RT feed. To keep this fast and reliable, the app makes these requests through BusPulse's own caching server (hosted on Expo Application Services) rather than contacting TransLink directly from your phone.
These requests contain only the bus-stop identifiers you are viewing or near — so the server can return that stop's arrivals — together with your device's IP address, which is part of any internet request. This information is used only to serve your request. It is not stored, logged for analysis, linked to your identity, or used to track you, and it is never shared with third parties. No account, name, email, or device identifier is ever collected.
If you choose to enable departure notifications, the app schedules local notifications on your device. No notification data is sent to any server. You can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings.
Stop favorites and recently viewed stops are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.
The app collects no analytics, crash reports, or usage data. There is no tracking of any kind.
The app uses Apple Maps (provided by Apple) for map display. Apple's own privacy policy governs Apple Maps data. The app does not use any advertising SDKs or analytics platforms.
The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
